It’s been a long time between posts. As of August 2018 we are still in Sydney and loving what this harbor and this city has to offer.
We have been keeping ourselves busy with hockey, joining Glebe District Hockey Club where David played in the Premier League 4 team and Colleen played for the SEHA 3rd Grade team. Colleen also coached the Under 15 B side. We have also both umpired more games than we can count!
We purchased a cheap car to get around. It’s a 2004 Ford Focus manual with a 1.8 litre engine. For the princely sum of $750, plus the usual registration/insurance ripoff, it needed the leaking steering rack replaced, but otherwise was solid. Alloys all round, disc brakes on the front, air conditioning and a working heater, plus a groovy aftermarket stereo, and because it’s red it’s fast! It survived a flying trip to Melbourne and back without a drama.
Colleen managed to obtain a Certificate II in Maritime Operations, otherwise known as a Coxswain Near Coastal Grade 1. This allows us to use XTsea in a commercial (read fee paying!) capacity. During August/September we are spending much time, and a lot of dollars, getting XTsea back into commercial survey. Our intent is to set ourselves up to participate in the summer charter season.
We ticked the final box and received permission to operate XTsea commercially early in November. We are running as part of the Sydney Harbour Escapes fleet, and our page is accessible at https://www.sydneyharbourescapes.com.au/boat/private-cruises/xtsea/hire/39065779. We’ll have our own pages up soon hopefully as well.
